Frequently asked questions for the Police Department

 

How do I get a copy of a police report?

You can find a fillable request by going to the forms tab. You can then submit the request in the following ways:

  • Email: hcruz@ci.albany.mn.us
  • Mail or deliver in person:  400 Railroad Avenue, PO Box 370, Albany, Minnesota, 56307

Requests will be processed as quickly as possible in the order that they were received.  Reports could take 7-10 business days to receive depending on the nature of the request.  There is a $.25 fee per page.  Requests will not be returned until payment is received.  

NOTE: Police reports will not be made available until 5 days have passed since the incident. 

 


 

How do I obtain finger printing? 

Fingerprinting can be done with our office during normal business hours. Please call our office at 320-845-2200 to schedule an appointment. 

Please bring a photo ID along with provided paperwork and cards. The cost per card obtained is $15.00.

Note that applicant is responsible for mailing all necessary documentation. 

 


 

How do I apply for a permit to purchase?

The Albany Police Department can only issue a permit to purchase to those that reside within the city limits of Albany.  A completed application must be returned to our office in person during normal business hours.  Applicants must also present a valid Minnesota driver's license with their current address.

An applicant living outside of the city limits of Albany must apply at the Stearns County Sheriff's Office at 807 Courthouse Square, St. Cloud, Minnesota, 56303.

 


 

How do I apply for a permit to carry?

A permit to carry must be requested through the Sheriff's Office in the county you reside.

How do I get a copy of my driving record?

You can obtain a copy of your driving record by visiting the Minnesota Department of Public Safety website and filling out a Records Request form:
