Request for Release of Information

You can submit your request in the following ways:

  • Mail or deliver in person:  400 Railroad Avenue, PO Box 370, Albany, Minnesota, 56307

Requests will be processed as quickly as possible in the order that they were received.  Reports could take 7-10 business days to receive depending on the nature of the request.  There is a $.25 fee per page.  Requests will not be returned until payment is received.  

PLEASE NOTE: Police reports will not be made available until 5 days have passed since the incident.

Permit to Purchase/Transfer Application

The Albany Police Department can ONLY issue a permit to purchase to those that reside within the city limits of Albany.  A completed application must be returned to our office in person during normal business hours.  Applicants must also present a valid Minnesota driver's license with their current address.

An applicant living outside of the city limits of Albany must apply at the Stearns County Sheriff's Office at 807 Courthouse Square, St. Cloud, Minnesota, 56303.
